One-Liner Wed. II: Galway Kinnell

“To me, poetry is somebody standing up, so to speak, and saying, with as little concealment as possible, what it is for him or her to be on earth at this moment.”
– Galway Kinnell, American poet, who died yesterday at the age of 87

  1. Strange timing to read this today. This morning I was thinking about writing a poem to express something without actually saying it. I’m not a poet, but poetry opens enables us to share in a different kind of way.

    1. A poet friend posted a link to the NY Times obituary this afternoon, which ended with this quote. I felt that I really wanted to get this out today, even though I had already posted another time-sensitive One-Liner today.
