As promised, I’m sharing the link to my newest poem publication: https://silverbirchpress.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/becoming-joanne-by-joanne-corey-all-about-my-name-poetry-series/. It is part of their “All About My Name” poetry series. Please visit – comment and like, if you are so inclined – and consider following the Silver Birch Press blog. They run several new poems a day related to a particular theme, which changes every two months or so. Enjoy!

Love this! There is soooo much in a name–or maybe it’s just that my own lived life has circled around my name. This is really nice–thanks for sharing and wonderful congratulations on publication!

Thank you so much, Ellen! I think that most people agree that their name does have special significance in their lives. I also realize that fiction writers devote a lot of time and attention to choosing the right name for characters and places in their work.
I hope it doesn’t sound silly/immature to write (multiple times) every time I manage to get a poem published. Maybe if I manage to publish more frequently it will get to be old hat, but I hope not!

I think every moment of publication should be celebrated, shouted to the rooftops, shared. It’s a wonderful thing, as far as I’m concerned.

Thanks, Ellen! Because I am an emerging poet – at 54 – it is hard to gauge what is appropriate. Most people are established as writers much younger and seem to play it a bit cooler than I do. I am just so excited when I get to share my work with others!
